Enjoy all the family fun of this festive holiday, whether your summer vacation takes place on Kiawah Island, Wild Dunes Resort, Seabrook Island, or Isle of Palms.
The Independence Day Festival takes place on Kiawah Island from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, July 4. The fun kicks off with the Annual Patriotic Bike Parade rolling from Night Heron Park, along with carnival games (additional costs), inflatables, and live music. Get your mouth watering for the watermelon eating contest at 7 p.m.
Chow down on an old-fashioned cookout favorite with prices ranging from $5 to $15. Then, fireworks will light up the sky starting at 9:15 p.m.
Visitors can also view Revolutionary War muskets, equipment, and clothing worn by soldiers at the 2nd Regiment, South Carolina Continental Line on the Night Heron Park Deck. The Regiment will share stories of the American Revolution and of the soldiers' lives. Participants fire off muskets as part of the celebration. Admission is free. No reservations are necessary.
The Isle of Palms Fireworks Show takes place in the Front Beach area from 9-9:30 p.m. on July 4. Officials will close the beach between 21st Avenue to 3rd Sea Cabins at 6:30 p.m. to set up the fireworks display. Be sure to take your family and belongings off the beach by 6:30 p.m. Visitors can stay inside the park area or behind the restroom facilities to watch the show. The city reminds visitors that Isle of Palms doesn't allow fireworks on its beaches. Leave the fireworks to the pros.
On Seabrook Island, fireworks start at 9 p.m. from the 9th fairway. No reservations are necessary. Just set up a seat and enjoy the show.
Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ performs at 9 p.m. on July 4 at The Windjammer, a local hot spot on Front Beach in Isle of Palms. Tickets start at $25. Note: The show is for those 21 and over
