Take the plunge at Beachwalker County Park (Kiawah Island’s only public beachfront designated swimming area) or the Atlantic Ocean just steps from your beachfront rental. Beachwalker County Park offers the advantage of having seasonal lifeguards, and the waters off Kiawah Island are some of the bluest along our coast. Or, you can jump in the pool at your vacation property. Most of our rentals offer access to a community pool. Or choose a property with a private pool.
Kayaking
Explore our marshes and back bays on a kayaking tour with Water Dog Paddle Co. Choose their signature eco-adventure paddling around Kiawah and Seabrook islands, searching for dolphin sightings and other wildlife. It’s fun and educational for the entire family. The tour includes break time to play in the water.
Paddle boarding
Water Dog Paddle Co. also offers the tour as a paddle boarding experience, with a brief lesson and safety training before taking off to discover the coast in a different way.
Parasailing
Tidal Wave Water Sports Take flight with a Tidal Wave Water Sports parasailing trip. Get spectacular views soaring above the ocean. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with experienced captains taking visitors out from Shem Creek. Fliers often spot local wildlife like sea turtles, dolphins and even sharks. You may get a quick dip in the water before returning to the boat.
Jet Skiing
Want to pick up the pace? Tidal Wave Water Sports also rents Jet Skis, as does Dolphin Water Sports. Participants launch from Cherry Point Boat Landing near Seabrook Island, located about 30 minutes from the front gates of Kiawah Island. This area offers a fun ride through the marsh trails where riders can see dolphins up close, jump waves in the Atlantic Ocean and take a break on a beach island. The riding area is open and has very light boat traffic, making it a stress-free experience.
Surfing
There’s nothing quite like the sensation of riding a wave. With 11 miles of beach on Kiawah Island, it makes a great spot to learn to surf at the Kiawah Island Surf School, part of Tidal Trails. The company offers group and private lessons, teaching all the basics and getting you comfortable on the board and in the water.
