One of Charleston’s brightest summer attractions is its dazzling Independence Day weekend fireworks shows. However, the sky is not the only thing that invites wonder; the beautiful scenery of each show’s location also plays a role.
Whether it’s taking in the scenery of one of Charleston's beautiful parks or enjoying the celebration at one of the city’s historic sites, the main event for the Fourth of July is always the fireworks.
This city loves hosting these sky shows just as much as families love coming out to watch, and we wanted to make sure that visitors know exactly where to find the festivities in 2024.
Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park: Home of the Charleston RiverDogs
Nothing screams summer in Charleston much like a Fourth of July baseball game, and the RiverDogs are home for the holiday weekend!
The team puts on fireworks every Friday night and has a special Independence Day postgame display planned for the Fourth of July. If you aren’t around for the game itself, the park sits right on the bank of the Ashley River and is within walking distance from The Citadel’s historic campus!
Isle of Palms Beachfront
Just 15 miles across the Ravenel Bridge in Isle of Palms, the city is sponsoring another special Fourth of July celebration. This show will take place right on the beachfront at dusk. The display should be visible from anywhere on the barrier island, whether you’re in one of the luxury condos or beachfront properties or gazing from the dunes!
Riverfront Park
One of Charleston Harbor's most scenic locations, Riverfront Park rests on the banks of the Cooper River and will be home to a FREE Fourth of July festival!
Starting at 5 p.m., there will be over 25 food trucks, live music and fun for the entire family! The famous park has plenty of lush greenery, a playground and a splash pad, and is home to the Greater Charleston Naval Base Memorial.
A fireworks show is planned for 9 p.m., so bring your lawn chairs and blankets to watch the night sky go bright by the river!
Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum
There’s no better way to celebrate our country than the annual “4th of July Fireworks Blast” at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant.
The museum will be open for business as usual on July Fourth, but the official celebration starts at 6 p.m. This FREE event will feature live music and over 10 food vendors.
In an experience unique to the museum they offer enhanced viewing of the fireworks show on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown, a renowned World War II aircraft carrier. The fireworks show is planned for 9 PM, overlooking the breathtaking Charleston Harbor!
