You don’t have to wait until midnight for fireworks as the evening wraps up at 9 p.m. with a spectacular display.

The Holiday Festival of Lights continues from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve at James Island County Park. It’s a magical way to end the end.
Take the Polar Bear Plunge into the Atlantic Ocean to welcome the New Year on Kiawah Island. The event is set at 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 1 at the Sanctuary Beach Access. Bring a towel to the free event. No reservations are required. The Polar Bear Dip on Seabrook Island traditionally takes place at 10:30 a.m. near Boardwalk 1 on North Beach.
One of the biggest New Year’s Eve parties traditionally takes place onboard the USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant. From 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., the aircraft carrier is filled with revelers enjoying live music, hors d’oeuvres and a full-service bar. Check their website for updates on the 2022 event.
The New Year’s Eve Flip Flop Drop & Fireworks Show takes place at nearby Folly Beach on Dec. 31 with family-friendly activities. Huge, sparkly flip-flops descend at the stroke of midnight followed by the fireworks display.
