Plan your fall vacation to the Charleston coast in October to celebrate one of the spookiest and most colorful times of the year. Whether your autumn fun means hayrides and pumpkins, or haunted houses and ghouls, you are in luck on the Isle of Palms.
Step into the Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch, open Sept. 30; then Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout October. The $15 admission includes a tractor tour, an eight-acre corn maze, a petting zoo, nature exhibits, pig races, inflatables, the state’s largest jump pillows, a magic show, and more. Pick out one of the pumpkins that are for sale by the pound.
The Isle of Palms Halloween Golf Cart Parade and Carnival is also great for small kids! The event is set from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Isle of Palms Recreation Center, 24 28th Ave. The parade line-up starts at 10:30 a.m. on 27th Avenue and the parade rolls at 11 a.m. sharp! Prizes are awarded to the top three best-decorated golf carts. The event also includes a Drive-Thru Haunted House.
Other events may make your hair stand on end, and are sure to send a shiver down your spine. For those brave souls willing to step into the unknown, there is plenty of terrifying adventures to discover.
Boone Hall Fright Nights take place Sept. 24 and 30; and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through October. With three attractions: The Lodge at Willow Ridge; Freaks World of Oddities; Sinister Cinema Haunted Hayride. Tickets are available online only. A ScreamPass that includes admission to all three attractions is $35. Note: The attractions are not recommended for children 12 and under, or the weak of heart.
On Friday, Oct. 14, brace yourself for Ghostly Tide Tales from 6-7 p.m. at Front Beach. Follow the beach access path beside Sea Cabins down to the beach to listen to local haunted stories around an open campfire. Park in Municipal Lot B on Pavilion Drive for this scary event, put on by the Isle of Palms Recreation Department.
